Meditation in the workplaceStress
in the workplace Life
in the office is getting tougher & tougher. People are working
longer hours with less or no breaks from their desks. Lunchtime is
becoming a thing of the past. As
a result, the telltale signs of stress and tension are all too
common in our lives. Lethargy, poor posture, and eyestrain are just
a few of the physical symptoms that can reduce the quality of life. An
employee’s well-being is paramount to the success of the company. Stress
accounts for 70% of all sick leave and costs UK businesses between
£3.5 billion and £7 billion a year. * For
the individual, stress can lead to a general lack of interest in
their work, which can filter through to the rest of their life. Meditation in the workplace has been set up to provide an enjoyable way to help eliminate stress in the workplace. It requires very little time and can offer increased productivity by lifting the mood and improving the concentration levels of the recipient. Meditation
The
purpose of meditation is to induce a feeling of relaxation. When
we are going about our day-to-day activities, we are usually in a
state of low or moderate beta brainwave frequencies, when routine
thinking and physical functioning occurs. High Beta
frequencies reflect a state of heightened anxiety or stress due to
mental over-activity. When
in a state of meditation, we are usually experiencing Alpha or Theta
brainwave frequencies. Alpha
frequencies represent a relaxed state associated with relaxed and
effortless alertness. Alpha waves are utilised for mental
relaxation, accelerated learning, for creative process and for peak
performance. Alpha waves are brought about by light meditation,
reading a good book, sitting on a quiet beach listening to the
waves, or listening to relaxing music. Theta frequencies represent a deeply relaxed state of free flowing inward focus. We naturally enter into the theta state for a few minutes just before falling asleep and just before entering the waking state when imagery is produced without conscious effort. It is also the deep meditation state and the seat of the creative process. What
to expect The
type of meditation used in these workshops is known as Guided
Meditation and it enables you to naturally induce an Alpha or Theta
state allowing you to relax and unwind. Through the use of
powerful guided visualisations you will be taken to many special
places in your mind. These include a gentle stroll along a powdery white beach, a walk through fields of beautifully coloured flowers and many more delightful experiences. Dawn's soothing tones
will take you on a journey of pure relaxation... Benefits ·
